CQC Consultation on new registration standards
The Care Quality Commission - CQC has released guidance on what services must do to meet the registration requirements set by the government. It said the new system would fundamentally change the way services are regulated and how regulation will be used to drive improvement in services. The registration requirements set essential common quality standards across the care sector and will replace the current standards in place for health and adult social care services.
The CQC is asking for feedback on whether the guidance appropriately reflects the registration requirements and if it reflects what should rightly be expected of a safe, quality health or adult social care service. Click here for further information and to download the consultation pack
The closing date is 24 August 2009.
Devon pioneers learning disability packs
People with learning difficulties in Devon are being provided with free information packs to help them in their everyday lives. The 'Keeping Safe' pack led by the South Hams Community Safety Partnership has been developed by Pluss in partnership with Devon County Council, Devon and Cornwall Police, and other Emergency and Learning Disability Services. The pack is designed to provide people with learning difficulties with support to live as independently as possible in their communities. For information about obtaining a pack, contact (01271) 375743.
ARC Photography Competition
The FOCUS ARC photography competition 2009 is open for entries. This year there are four categories, Employment, Transition, Training and Older People. Last year we received many high quality photographs to add to our learning disability image library but now we need more. So if you’ve got a camera then use it, send your photos to us including an entry form per photo and you might just win!
This year we’ll be displaying four shortlisted photos from each category at the ARC Annual Conference and the best ones will get £25 Marks and Spencer Vouchers. Click here to download a flyer. For more information and to see the full terms and conditions (and download entry forms) click here to visit the FOCUS 2009 page on the ARC website. Good luck!
In Control
In Control has now launched its provider, community organisation and small family employer network which is aimed at driving and developing the market so that people have real choice in the way they deploy their personal budgets.
As part of the network they envisage specialist groups, forums and events will start to evolve which will mean there is something for everybody.
So in terms of who can join as a member it can be any organisation small or large who are willing to sign up to the ethos and values of In Control. They can be providing direct support, could be an information or advocacy organisation, could be a club, time bank or small community organisation, in fact anyone who wants to know more about the personalisation agenda and how they can develop their organisations/business in line with what people want.
